For years I’ve heard that phrase and wondered where it came from. It has a very broad meaning and can be used in almost any situation.

In marketing, when a service or a product is having huge success, there always seems to be copy-cats waiting in the wings to hop on the gravy train as long as possible.

Let’s face it if someone has figured out what “their public” needs and wants, and other companies share that demographic, no surprise they’ll be a knock-off coming very soon.

On the web we see new social media sites popping up in hopes of that great pie-in-the-sky buy-out if and when the new guy on the block has a hit. How many social sites like Instagram and Snap have been gobbled up by the likes of “Meta” or as we knew a company like Facebook?

Social Media people

Through all of this copy-catting, we’re all reaping the rewards of having new sources of media channels to use and expand our social footprint with. That’s a good thing…I think? I’d like to hear from you about that too.

Where Has Originality Gone?
Originality? Well, this generation has sparked an awful lot of new, creative, and inventive ideas. It’s almost hard to keep up, really. The way the World is expanding by using social media and the media, in general, is quite astounding. Don’t you think? If you have access to a mobile phone, you can tap into so much chatter. You can search for anything you like, and dislike. More importantly, knowledge is at our fingertips and all we have to do is push a little button. Or ask the phone to find something for us.

I’d like to hear your take on this.

Thanks for stopping by.
