As a designer/art director marketing kind of guy, I see a lot of things out there in social media and beyond. Back in “the day” there were much different ways to get customer attention and convince them to try your product or service.

I have a principle that I’ve held up for myself when working on a project for a client: Be professional. Always do the best job you can and give the client more than they even expected.

In this newsletter I’ll go over and show examples of:
The good, The bad and The ugly.

Strap in, it could get bumpy!

Best Tips for Social Media Success

Social media continues to be a powerful tool for brands looking to connect with their audiences. Here are some best practices to ensure your social media efforts yield maximum results:

Define Clear Goals

Before jumping into social media, it’s crucial to define what you want to achieve. Whether it’s increasing brand awareness, generating leads, or boosting sales, having clear, measurable goals will guide your strategy and allow you to measure progress effectively.

Know Your Audience

Understanding your target audience is vital in crafting messages that resonate. Use analytics tools to gather insights about your followers, including their demographics, interests, and online behaviors. Tailor content to meet their preferences and needs.

Create Engaging Content

Engaging content attracts attention and encourages interaction. Use eye-catching visuals, compelling storytelling, and interactive elements (polls, quizzes) to keep your audience interested. High-quality images and videos should be a staple of your content strategy.

Consistency is Key

Consistency helps reinforce your brand identity and keeps your audience engaged. Establish a content calendar to schedule posts regularly and maintain a consistent voice and tone across all platforms.

Monitor and Adapt

Regularly examine your analytics to understand what works and what doesn’t. Be prepared to tweak your approach based on data insights. Trends change rapidly on social media, and adaptability is essential for success.

Engage with Your Audience

Social media is a two-way street. Respond to comments, engage in conversations, and acknowledge user-generated content. Building a community around your brand fosters loyalty and encourages word-of-mouth marketing.

Most Compelling Video Ad
on YouTube (The Great)

In August 2024, the spotlight shifts to “The Great,” a campaign that has captured the attention of viewers on YouTube. This video ad brilliantly showcases both humor and heart, highlighting the importance of community and connection through storytelling.

The Storyline

The ad features a relatable narrative involving friends coming together for a reunion after years apart. The video culminates in a memorable moment of laughter and warmth as they share stories, enjoy food, and reminisce about the past. The ad cleverly intersperses humor with emotional moments, making it both entertaining and poignant.

Production Quality

“The Great” stands out for its high production quality. Cinematic shots, engaging editing, and a carefully curated soundtrack work together to enhance the storytelling experience. The visuals and audio are a feast for the senses, drawing viewers in and keeping them engaged.

Call to Action

The ad ends with a call to action, encouraging viewers to cherish their friendships and make time for the people that matter. This resonates deeply with audiences, prompting them to share the ad and engage with the brand.

Most Important Components of a Website Home Page

Clear Navigation

A user-friendly navigation bar allows visitors to easily find what they’re looking for. Implement a straightforward menu that categorizes your content logically.

Strong Brand Identity

Your brand’s logo, color scheme, and typography should be prominent and consistent. This helps establish instant brand recognition and fosters trust.

Compelling Headline

The headline should capture the essence of what you offer. It needs to be clear, engaging, and informative, drawing visitors to explore further.

Engaging Visuals

Use high-quality images or videos that support your brand message. Visual elements should complement your text and enhance the overall aesthetic of the homepage.

Call to Action (CTA)

Every homepage should have a prominent CTA, encouraging visitors to take the next step, whether that’s signing up for a newsletter, exploring products, or contacting you for more information.

Mobile Responsiveness

With a growing number of users accessing websites via mobile devices, ensure your homepage is optimized for mobile. Responsive design guarantees a seamless experience across all devices.

Relevant Content

Include content that resonates with your target audience. Providing valuable information, such as blog posts or FAQs, can enhance the user experience and encourage visitors to return.

August brought us a delightful surprise on social media with a humorous ad that quickly went viral. The ad, showcases what could be a fun way to pass the baton in a race. Just in time for the Olympics. My favorite is the Pineapple. What’s yours?

Execution

The production value is high, with fast-paced editing and cleverly timed sound effects that accentuate the humor. The ad is short, snappy, and effective, making it perfect for platforms like Instagram and TikTok where attention spans are short.

Viewer Engagement

This increases reach but also creates a sense of community, as others join in the fun.
