Social Media is more powerful than ever and there’s no sign of it slowing down. It is the place to get more “NOW” information be it real or “fake” news than anywhere else.

What Are The Key Trends To Watch For in 2021?

Text-Messaging• Social Messaging

These days, more social messaging apps to use like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, and WeChat are huge now and there’s Snapchat has thrown its’ hat into the ring in a big, big way. It’s gotten to the point where there are more users on the messaging community than the social community.

Censorship• Fighting Against Fake News

The spillover of news coming under fire during the presidential campaign blew up and has thrown the news media community into a flurry of a check, double-check, and triple-checking sources for reliability more than ever in the history of that source of information the public has relied on for decades.
The millennials are turning to the internet more and more for their news and with that, there has been a rise in “fake news” sites that are hard to police. The traditional network news stations are spending more and more time warning us about who to believe instead of being in the forefront as they once were.

video• Live Videos

When YouTube came on the scene it captured real moments that were unfiltered and couldn’t be disputed as anything other than “what you see is what you get” information. Facebook has taken that to another level allowing and promoting the social media community to “Go Live” anytime and anywhere they like. Live video captures major events made by and for anyone who tunes into. It’s like putting a toy camera in kids’ hands and let’s see what happens. Good and bad. Instagram is also throwing its video capability hat into the ring for sponsored and non-sponsored content. Stay tuned!

instagram• Instagram

It’s been an incredible year so far for Instagram. The Facebook-owned social platform has grown to almost 500 million users and climbing. The game seems to be how many “hearts” can you acquire and rise to the top of your community. Instagram is reaching out to the business community in a big way as well. This could grow as 2017 moves along. There will be more and more ads. Hopefully, the creativity will increase as well.

snapchat• Snapchat

Snapchat’s parent company has recently gone public and its’ stock increased over 30% on the first day of trading, which made many new millionaire millennials living in sunny Venice Beach, now called Silicon Beach. What can you do with Snapchat? Here are a few things: Memories enable Snapchat users to share photos and videos captured outside of Snapchat to your stories. Spectacles are sunglasses that Snap! Tapping a button on the glasses enables you to record from your perspective. Then, relive the moment later in Snapchat. Snapchat has always been intrinsically linked to celebrating and sharing our lives at the moment. And the acquisition of Vurb could solve one of the platform’s biggest issues: discovery. Vurb is a local app helping consumers find local things to do and letting them save their ideas. With the release of Spectacles, Snapchat has succeeded where Google and many companies have failed – they made tech-filled glasses cool. And a lot of that has come down to the way they’ve marketed the product. As Josh Constine said on TechCrunch, “If you want to make something cool, don’t give it to geeks first.”

There’s a lot more going on, but there will be many follow-ups to this as 2020 rolls on. Stop back and have a read. Thanks for coming by and remember we can get you “seen” on the Social Media community and links to your site as well. We push business and we can push business your way. Contact us.
